The client Brief was for two beach-side visitor accommodation buildings with a farm shed theme. The buildings have been designed to look from a distance to be farm sheds, whilst providing the visitor with an immersive experience in a grand, sweeping landscape. The building allows the occupant to choose how they wish to engage with the coastal farm environment: an open bath, a wind-sheltered pot-belly stove, a semi-out-door shower, or the comforts of the interior. The buildings can be hunkered down behind large sliding timber barn doors or opened up to the sweeping views of the lagoon and the hills.
